About Stitch in 3D

Stitch in 3D teaches the basic crochet stitches as 3D models you can turn, pause and slow down. It exists because the hardest part of learning to crochet is seeing which loop the hook goes into, and photos and fast videos rarely show it from the angle you need.

How the stitches are made

Each stitch is built in code as one continuous strand of yarn and a hook that moves through it, step by step, the way the stitch is worked. The steps, loop counts and names are checked against published references: the Craft Yarn Council's standards for yarn weights, hook sizes and chart symbols, and the standard US, UK and German stitch terminology. The 3D models simplify some things on purpose: there is no hand in the picture, loops are drawn slightly looser than real ones so you can see them, and the yarn you are working is a different color from the stitches already made.

Who writes it

The guides are written and edited under the pen name Morgan Hale, used by the small team behind the site. We don't claim credentials we don't have; if you spot a mistake in a stitch, please tell us and we'll fix it.
